Sam Trickett
Sam Trickett, who is known by many poker players and fans alike as "Tricky" was born in 1986 in East Retford in the United Kingdom. After an injury that brought a halt to his career as a semi professional soccer player,
he entered into the poker arena in the year 2005 in which he was invited to play in a friends game. After the first night, he was hooked and continued to play,
winning consecutively each time that he played. Playing in Sheffield at first, he found success through the poker games that he played in bars. But also through the playing a tournament in Sheffield's biggest casino in which he did fairly well from himself.
He also started to compete in online tournaments such as Sit and Go $10, which he performed at flawlessly and won almost each time that he played - slowly grinding down the online poker millions. After competing in the GCBPT in Nottingham and placing first, Trickett realized that he wanted to make this a career. He contacted Julian Thew, whom he played with regularly, and wanted to know what he could do in order to become a pro in the poker world. He responded by telling him to play around other areas in the world and start to make his reputation. With his help he started to play at various locations in order to make sure that he was building the reputation as a force to be reckoned with at the table, which he did succeed in doing.
He entered into the World Series of Poker in 2008 at the Las Vegas event and placed fourth in the No Limit $5,000 event. His sponsor is Titan Poker in all events and in the 41st World Series of Poker he placed at least six times.
In 2010, he and other poker players took part in the high stakes games in Macau. In 2011, he made his mark in the no limit Hold'em tournaments that were a super high buy in and featured a small field of competitors. His take was over 3 million dollars for these tournaments. He also entered the PCA super high roller and won the event. At the Aussie Millions, he placed second. His total winnings as of 2010 are $4,631,947. He has had 17 cashes with five career wins. His ranking is 24 in the ESPN/Bluff and is ranked 65th in the 2010 Player of the Year.
In 2011 he placed 1st in the Australian $100,000 No Limit Hold'em. In the Super Roller, he also placed first and in the WPT Diamond Championship, he placed sixth overall. Those that know the poker player state that he is a friendly person to chat with, but is one of those players that is completely devoted to the game when he is at the table. It is for this reason that he is one player in which people love to be around, but hate losing to. For this reason, Trickett is going to be one of those players to watch, as he has the potential to become a great poker player that people will remember for years to come.
